When an illness devastates everything you take for granted. . .
When you receive a diagnosis of a critical illness, nothing sets you back further, and makes you second guess everything that you thought was important. When I started on the insurance side of the business, and I was going through the training and the licensing, I learned about critical illness coverage. I bought a policy (and a policy for long term care), with the thought that if I never claim on it, I’ll use the cash value in it towards my retirement (I had a policy with cash value building in it).
Then in 2013, I got the call. “You have breast cancer”.
Nothing changes your outlook faster than a diagnosis like this. Further, I was faced with “am I going to be able to work?” “How will the bills be paid?”
I had a policy. I would be ok, at least financially, for a while.
As I see another social media post of someone who’s been diagnosed with a critical illness and their friends and family open a GoFundMe page, my thought goes to the same place. “Did they have a critical illness policy?”
Do you have a critical illness policy? If you don’t, you need one. Any amount of coverage. Any amount to get you through the financial burden that comes with this ‘call’. Trust me. There is not enough money when it comes to your health. The focus should be on your health and not on your finances.
Your health is your wealth. Without it, you may have nothing. Protect your health today and buy yourself and your family members critical illness coverage.
